Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable and yet powerful characters has helped make her one of the top American actors. Her father was a renowned playwright. However, Linney was raised as an only child with a single mother who was a nurse. Through the summer months and with her father Linney discovered a love for theater. She eventually studied acting initially at Brown University then at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years after graduation she began her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her debut in TV and film. Since then, she's appeared in countless films and TV and stage productions. During her career she received several awards, among them two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of her many awards, she still loves acting and has performed on stage and screen.
