A baby was strapped to my back, while one crawled inside the playground. I stayed up all night days, for months, sanding and stripping wallpaper and with just one child. Ha! The whole thing started to make sense, but was still far from being finished. For this project I was ready to shell out a substantial amount of money and spend time shopping for my dream home. In order to keep my budget in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. Every week, we would stroll through estate and garage sales on Saturdays and Thursdays buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture. Then I would spend working on my projects outside in our driveway. It looked a bit like the following... Here is where my love for in the process of restoring old furniture got started. No matter what, our house had already been decorated. The local market had space to let me sell my pieces. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the room available. The number of people who visited my home over the course of a weekend to purchase everything that was on the ground. That's how my company Growing Days was born. The business wasn't just expanding, but so was our family of four. In a way, I had found the perfect equilibrium between motherhood as well as starting my own venture. Growing Days just fit. My beautiful Nora was born in 2013, our fourth child. I loved where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed to take a breather. I decided to take a break from creating vintage furniture and also slowed my pace and stayed at home to take care of the kids. That was precisely what I was looking for. It was only after several months when the phones began to ring. People contacted me asking to help them with the interior design and renovations of their home. Many of the people calling me were people who had visited my home at one of my furniture open houses. In the following months, I began to take on new clients according to my own pace. Then I was able to have many clients, and had a business of home renovations. If you had told me that my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I might have laughed. As I look back on this situation, I find myself laughing.
